Dinner at Ayşe’s Apartment

Dinner at Ayşe's Apartment

Tonight, our group was fortunate to eat in the home of some incredibly hospitable people. Our professors for our course here, Zafer and Binnaz Toprak, were not able to host us in their Istanbul apartment because Zafer is writing a book and using the apartment as a private library. Instead, we were invited to eat in the home of their daughter Ayşe and her boyfriend Emre. She is a documentarian for Al-Jazeera and he is a Turkey corespondent for the Wall Street Journal. We all had a great time and feel lucky to have met such welcoming and generous people. A home cooked meal was also a great change of pace.
