Quick Update From Istanbul

Hello friends and family! I’m still operating on just a few hours of sleep and it’s been a long day, but I wanted to update you on our situation since leaving home. As I write this, it’s about 8pm in Istanbul and a thunderstorm is rolling into the city. I think we all enjoyed the flight from New York JFK to Istanbul and we were impressed with Turkish Air’s excellent service. We spent most of today walking around Bogazaci University’s campus and learning about the places where we can buy food. I think the language barrier was a little bit more challenging than some of us expected so we are eagerly anticipating our first Turkish lessons on Wednesday. Tomorrow, we will have a guided bus tour of Istanbul’s historic churches, mosques and monuments. That’s all for now but I’m sure that some of the others will be updating this blog very soon. TIME 2012 is well underway and we are excited move forward with our adventure.
